The long awaited body of work from the female face of UK Spoken Word Sophia Thakur is finally here. Poetry’s sweetheart unveils her first project available for streaming ‘The SilverLinings3p’, following herUniTour and string of successful youtube videos.  The project, premiered via MOSAIQE, has been met with eager anticipation since the young Londoner has had an amazing year working with TEDx, Channel 4, BBC 1Xtra, BBC radio and Channel US.

Following a string of performances at 15 universities across the country, the high energy track ‘3p1’ and the emotionally intense ‘3p3’ may make this one of the most dynamic poetry projects of 2015. The pieces are accompanied by superb production from frequent collaborator DA, who produced the tone for the movingoriginal creatives’ interlude in 2014. The SilverLinings3p also features haunting instrumentals from the infamous Meandou production team, who worked with poets and singers Shareefa Energy and Kyra Rox on their latest projects.

From the heart warming ‘3p1’, to the message to the men within ‘3p2’, Sophia proves to us why she really isLondon’s storyteller. In ‘3p3’ we see Sophia unearth old scars from the past as she takes the listener on a journey of unrequited love, pain and faith and the struggles inside them all but the Silver Linings to be found within them. The SilverLinngs3p does more than set Sophia Thakur apart from her UK poetry peers, but vulnerably offers an honest alternative to living in a world that you do not desire.

In the lengthy interview with Mosaiqe prior to the release, Sophia Thakur confesses how emotionally draining it was to conclude some of the tracks on the project. She found herself asking her piece “What more do you want from me? What can I give you? ”, before describing the end of her writing as “a final push” stating that “it was almost orgasmic” once she had finished. If vulnerability and honesty combined with the highest storytelling ability is something desired, The SilverLinings3p offers just that, and more, as Sophia Thakur delivers yet another beautifully crafted story of SilverLinings.
