Malunga: 5 Songs That Influenced Me

Malunga returns with yet another slice of new music to help melt your troubles away. The Radio1 & 1xtra approved artist shows off a more mellow and reflective mood in this smooth RnB Acoustic track.  Showcasing her ability to move effortlessly through styles in her song writing, coming off the back of the upbeat garage vibes of her previous single ‘Toy’ released last month.

Check out the latest track below:

We also caught up with Malunga and asked her, her top 5 tracks that have influenced her. Find out what tracks she picked below:
1. Jill Scott – Golden
I love this song because it is pure good energy and always uplifts my spirit when I play it. I like to create that same feeling with my music.
2. India Arie – Video
This is such a powerful message to women and in the song she is saying it’s ok to be yourself. I think it’s important to validate yourself. I enjoy speaking about being unique in my music and embracing that.
3. Bilal – Soul Sista
This song is a pure luxury to listen to, it melts my heart away with the silky vibe and his voice. I love that he’s uplifting us black women and saying ‘You are my soul sista and I appreciate you. I love hearing that!
4. Musiq Soulchild – So Beautiful
I love his voice! it’s so powerful yet smooth and the song makes me feel so appreciated. I feel like I don’t hear many songs like this anymore or this vulnerability within many male vocalists. I just appreciate this sound and how beautiful the message is in the song.
5. Amy Winehouse – Help yourself
Throughout the song it’s like she’s having a conversation and I love it’s simplicity yet rawness. I love her writing style and the story in her voice. I like to be direct in my music and speak it how I feel it. Sometimes it really is that simple when creating music.
