Following the release of her debut single “Hey, It’s You”, Emily Laing goes back to her roots with a delicate an acoustic version of the folk-tinged single.
We caught up with Emily Laing and she gave us her top 5 tracks and why. Find out below:
La vie en rose (Edith Piaf):
My grandpa’s favourite song and the first song I ever sang live. The first song I ever learnt to play on ukulele. A lot of firsts and a beautiful tune.
Blackbird (The Beatles):
The first song I truly fell in love with at first listen. Simplicity itself and so beautiful.
Bloody Mother F***ing A**hole (Martha Wainwright):
My favourite song of all time. The song I can scream and shout to WHATEVER the weather. When in doubt, sing it out. Martha Wainwright is utterly fearless.
Just because. One of my favourite tunes to sing live. It says everything with so few chords and words.
Paper Bag (Fiona Apple):
I struggle a lot with anxiety and on a bad day, this song never fails to help. Even if it’s only a little. I honestly don’t know what I’d do without music.
