East London Singer/Songwriter Teeah is a talent in her own right. She caused a stir in the UK Afrobeats landscape with her debut single ‘Save Me’. She is now causing even more of a stir, teaming up with Ghanaian Superstar Sarkodie for her new single ‘Zengeh’. Amor Magazine caught up with Teeah to find out the latest going on’s with the up and coming artist.
Is there a music video in the works for your new single ‘Zengeh?
Being worlds apart from King of Rap Sarkodie isn’t making it easier. But I have something lurking, that I’m sure will please the Zengeh movement.
How did the collaboration with Sarkodie come about?
I slid into hes DMs lol literally. We had met in 2016 where I was lucky enough to interview him. I guess I made a lasting impression. They say 1st impressions are everything. Once I DM it was emails back and forth. He’s a very efficient worker. I’m just blessed to have him on the track.
How would you describe your sound?
My sound is what I call a VIBE. I hate being genre specific. It’s annoying. But a vibe. Switches it up. It’s more than the music. Its feeling the vibe of the music. I like to take all elements that surround me as a person. From childhood to now. Funky House afro jazz soul spoken word. It’s all a vibe.
Could you tell us about your musical journey?
Oooo it’s been a long one. My 1st year as a solo artist has been challenging and expensive lol but I’ve loved every milestone I’ve achieved so far. Being around different artist including producers learning and taking it all in, Is super exciting and overwhelming sometimes. It’s one of the reason why music is so impactful. My musical journey is constantly changing based on who I talk too next.
Who are your musical inspirations?
I love and hate this question lol. Brenda fassie, Luck Dube, SWV, Toni Braxton, Jill Scott, Lauren Hill, Mr Oizo, T2, Black Motion,
Margan Heritage. Oh definitely movies like Break Dance, Moon Walk, Dirty Dancing, HairSpray the Rickie Lake one lol the list goes on
What can we expect from your new EP?
The new ep will define all matters of love. The good the bad and the ugly. That’s all I can say on that. I’m working with some great producers from South Africa, Zimbabwe and the UK. So its definitely going to be worth the wait.
What’s next for Teeah?
More legendary music that will be hits for a lifetime to come. I will be stepping into fashion and most definitely keeping my presenting game on fire. Together with my music. Because that’s who I am lol and so much more. All the awards and endorsements I could possibly ask for. Overall that soulistic artist who impacts the industry differently but extraordinarily
