The 9th Glass Review – Thailand Special

The 9th Glass

Address: 106/16, Soi Hat Surin 8, Phuket, Thailand
Cuisine: International Wine Bar

After our visit to The 9th Floor, we visited sister restaurant, The 9th Glass, a much more laid back wine bar and bistro. The 9th Glass is a relatively new opening based in Surin, Phuket. Mimicking the same standard and service as The 9th Floor, you will still expect to receive great wine and even better food. Read what we ordered on our visit and what we’d love to try again.

For starters we ordered a platter consisting of tapas style dishes. Our favourite was the aged goats cheese melted on crouton with tapenade. Also try the grilled polenta with balsamic onion confit and slow cooked tomatoes, for something different.

For our mains we had “The Ultimate Rib”, boneless beef short ribs, slow cooked for 72 hours. This was a recommendation and boy was it a good one! The meat was so tender and juicy and just utterly gorgeous.

To finish we had  the Tarte au citron – a lovely little homemade lime tart with chocolate ganache and caramelized crust, paired with raspberry sorbet for added sweetness.

The 9th Glass exceeded our expectations and the food excited our taste buds.

We were the first ones in, which gave us the chance to view the place, without looking nosy. The quirky decor of celebs holding wine glasses amused us, a nice touch but far from subtle. The smiley waitresses stayed within a comfortable distance and were consistent throughout the evening.

This place would definitely be worth returning to should we happen to visit Phuket again!

Ideal for: Bistro style relaxed dining
