Lupita East Review

Lupita East

Address: 60-62 Commercial Street, E1
lupita.co.uk
Tw: @LupitaUK
Cuisine: Mexican

FOOD:

Located a short walk away from Old Spitalfields Market, Lupita brings Mexican flavour and flair to East London.

We visited early afternoon one weekend and were seated by the window, just as we like. After scanning the menu a couple times, we were still unsure what to get (more so myself), as the dishes all sounded rather appealing. Along came our waiter, putting our wrecking brains at ease with a few recommendations to start.

He recommended the Guacamole Artesnal, which is freshly prepared at the table. This is served with nachos and can be shared. We also tried the Taquitos. We ordered six of them, but a smaller portion is more than enough, as they are quite filling.

Gobernador

For the “Platos Fuertes”, we tried two dishes – Gringa and Gobernador. The Gringa is more of a typical Mexican dish, whereas the Gobernador is a little different to what I’ve tried at other Mexican restaurants. I admit I was enticed by the “pure protein” in the description for the Gobernador, as well as it sounding as juicy as it tasted. All of the dishes were extremely filling, so if you want to leave room for dessert, don’t over order here.

Churros

For dessert, their churros are a must! If you have a sweet tooth, like myself, then these will definitely do the trick. They were some of the best churros I’ve tasted, because of how fluffy and freshly prepared they were.

OVERALL:

Quality Mexican food at reasonable prices with attentive service and a touch of inventive dining.

Ideal for: Laid-back dining.

Overall Rating ★★★1/2
