Protective hair style season has arrived

The transition from summer waves, slick ponytails to now having to dig into your wig wardrobe and deep condition your hair twice a week has now arrived in full force. The love hate relationship as a naturalista can get draining during the colder months so here are some chic styles to rock which will both keep them edges in tact as well as give you more time in the morning to focus on you.

Faux Locs

Faux locs gang has come back again this season, they are super easy to maintain as the style is constructed by using synthetic or human extensions which is then wrapped tightly around the  braids or twists to resemble the ‘real locs’ hair texture.

As Faux locs are meant to resemble real dreadlocks, you will find that they are easier to maintain as the style can be completed by using synthetic braiding or with human hair or yarn. The hair is then wrapped around tightly around the braids or twists to give that natural feel.

Feed in braid ponytail

This method of styling combines both synthetic and your natural hair together as well as creating the illusion of longer, thicker and more natural braids. Great for on the go when you have limited time in the mornings as the style can be braided up into the perfect up – do. All you may need to do each morning is apply your favorite oil into your edges and scalp (my favorite is castor oil) The style is great at protecting those edges as it reduces tension on the hairline.

Wig life

Would you believe me if I told you this is a wig? the game has honestly changed and we are trying our best to keep up with the player. These single braids which are synthetic just so you know, are amazing for if you like to look after your natural hair at the end of the day. Perfect for if you are transitioning and need to keep a close eye on those natural coils.
