It’s time for #MovieMonday and this week we are talking about the latest movie from three acting legends. With Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman and Alan Arkin are all involved in this classic remake, this movie has certainly got the critics going.
Amor Rating: 3/5
Joe, Willie and Albert have a combined age that reaches safely into getting a free bus pass, but that’s not stopping them. After having their pension funds frozen, their bills quickly become overdue and the pressure to keep their loved ones happy becomes too much.
Determined to seek revenge on their employers, the three lifelong friends decide to take back what is theirs – but only that and not a penny more. Following a recent bank heist, Joe manages to persuade his friends that they could do a better job and make away with millions. With, in their eyes, nothing to loose, the trio decide to risk it all and rob the very bank that swindle them out of all of their money.
As they plan, plot and practise their big siege, these old age pensioners show that age really is just a number.
With three legends in one film, there was never any doubt that the acting would be anything short of world class. All three play their parts well and remind us why they are leaders in this field.
While the storyline is being labelled ‘low-energy’ and ‘offering nothing surprising’, it’s safe to say that this film is an easy watch where we can take comfort in seeing some familiar faces. The characters are easily loveable and as we learn more about their family and personal lives, we grow to love them in a way we adore our own elderly relatives.
Despite the trio’s somewhat big, blow-out plan, there is little action to make you perch on the edge of your seats or sit back and go ‘wow’, but, if you’re looking that leaves you with a smile on your face, then this is your choice for movie Monday.
