I know I am extremely late, and normally I would be one of the first queuing up on the day of release of one of the most anticipated chick flicks of 2017, but better late than never, right!?
Girls Trip takes us on a journey of reigniting friendships, sisterhood, excitement, career paths and romance – the perfect concoction for a good film to watch with the girls. Featuring one of my favourite actresses Jada Pinkett Smith, the cast is brilliantly selected and the characters who make up the ‘Flossy Posse’ authentically illustrate the weird and wonderful personalities, that are practically in every female group of friends.
Best friends Ryan, Sasha, Lisa and Dina are in for the adventure of a lifetime when they travel to New Orleans for the annual Essence Festival. And if you have ever gone on a girls trip, you would be aware of the emotions such excursions bring – happiness, joy, jealousy, upset, love – this film takes us through it all!
With it being a black cast, the first impression would be for it to only appeal to the black female viewer, and wow is that so far from the truth! Black, White, Puerto Rican or Asian, I believe every female group of friends will enjoy this. (And, dare I say it?) I even think our male counterparts will also find this an amusing watch.
Girls Trip is a must see. The film is a beautiful body of work and absolutely hilarious! Have a peak below, grab the girlies and get your asses to the cinema if you haven’t done so already.
