Mama Leah’s Review

Cuisine: American

FOOD:

We were recently down in Old Kent Road and popped into Mama Leah’s for some good ol’ comfort food.

Let’s start with the menu – so many mouthwatering choices, that have your eyes wondering for at least 10 minutes. Ultimately the winning starters were the king prawns pan fried in sweet chilli sauce served with garnish  and the mozzarella dippers served with sweet chilli. Who can say no to a bit of sweet chilli?

Both starters were delicious and would definitely be ordered again, maybe even twice if we had the room!

For the mains, there was one that stood out like a sore thumb, that it was so clear that it was the only option for a greedy foodie such as myself. So I went for the chicken and lamb chops, which came with plantain, coleslaw and a side of rice (can come with chips also). Again, no complaints here – everything was fantastic, well seasoned and cooked to perfection!

OVERALL:

Mama Leah’s is a secret gem nestled on Old Kent Road and definitely worth a visit if you find yourself in that neck of the woods.

The hospitality was great and we didn’t have to wait too long for our food. The presentation and food itself was great and appealed to our tastebuds.

The decor is quite plain and casual with an exposed brick wall and a huge pop art picture of Muhammad Ali. It is split over two floors, with the upstairs being a lot smaller than the downstairs, where occasionally they hire out for private functions.

All in all, a pleasant experience with fantastic food – they can expect another visit from us!
