IamWhatIMakeup campaign by Cover Girl features first model with vitiligo in new ad

Amy Deanna has become the first model to grace the screens of CoverGirl’s newest campaign advert. Amy mentions in the video “Why try to blend in when you can choose to stand out?” whilst she applies the Cover girl tru blend foundation.

 

Vitiligo is a disease that causes patches of the skin to lose it’s original colour making certain areas of the skin become lighter than other areas. Celebrities and public figures such as the late Michael Jackson and model Winnie Harlow have both been very open with their struggle with Vitiligo.

 

Deanna believes that there is definitely room for more diversity within the beauty industry, although there has been a complete shift within the last 5 years, with model Winnie Harlow who also has Vitiligo making it on the big screens, however she believes there is room for new role models.

 

“I believe that inclusiveness will challenge unrealistic beauty standards within the beauty industry and in humanity” she tells Cosmopolitan Magazine, Amy is especially inspired by and excited to have such an opportunity that she has seen the likes of Queen Latifah taking part in when she was growing up.
