A print which I am beginning to see crop up more and more as we head towards Autumn is checks. Sophisticated with a heritage edge, this grid like print will add a little more statement to your outfit, while remaining classic. It is the perfect print to spice things up a little. Whether large or small, the repetitive print is easy on the eye and tends to be flattering on all shapes and sizes.
Checks look amazing in tailored pieces. If you want to make your office wear a little more exciting, checks are the way to do it. Wear a checkered skirt, or jacket to work, and you look like you mean business.
Miss Selfridge – £42 (available here)
This checked jacket from Miss Selfridge, is such a great piece to see you through Autumn. It will work well to wear to the 9-5, and could easily be dressed down with a pair of jeans and a printed tee! The tailored style jacket, makes it automatically look that little bit more pricey, even though it only cost £42, and it is super easy to throw on, completing any look, giving a modern edge to the print we’ve loved for years.
Of course, if you know you’re into checks and really want to invest, Mulberry have fully embraced this trend in their 2017 Autumn Winter Ready to Wear Collection. Giving you the choice of tonnes of high-end pieces, made from beautiful checked fabrics. With some classic tailored printed suits, and some pieces which are far more head turning, and perfect making a statement and great for layering when it gets a little chillier.
The colour palette for these checks seems to be fairly neutral, using mainly, browns, beiges, and mustards shades, which of course adds to the British classic heritage vibe the geometric pattern gives us. You can add an extra splash of colour, but not much is needed with such a classic piece.
