For four consecutive Mondays, starting on 23rd October, Carluccio’s is going green. In a new collaboration with food blogger and writer Anna Barnett, Carluccio’s have created an exclusive vegetarian menu that will be popping up at its flagship restaurant in Covent Garden, Garrick Street on the first floor.
In response to the growing demand for more vegetarian and vegan choices and the non-for-profit Meat Free Mondays campaign, Cucina Verde is the first initiative to be launched by a UK restaurant group. Carluccio’s new Autumn/Winter menu will feature over 20 dishes suitable for vegans that is said to be ‘one of the largest selections of vegan and vegetarian dishes of any nationwide restaurant group’.
Dishes include Carluccio’s signature vegetable dishes of penne giardiniera, giant Pugliese penne with crispy spinach balls, as well as crostini al funghi, sautéed mushrooms and kale in garlic and chilli on toasted ciabatta.
Antonio Carluccio says “Vegetables are very important in Italian food culture and are often the stars of the show, it’s not uncommon for dishes to be exclusively plant-based. Our new Autumn Winter menu takes vegetables and makes them the main event in many of Carluccio’s new dishes.”
