5 Tips to Help You Relax

Whilst it may seem like the easiest concept, actually sitting down and trying to relax can be an incredibly difficult thing for many individuals. However, we’ve got you covered, with 5 easy steps to becoming more relaxed.

1) BE MINDFUL ON YOUR DAILY COMMUTE:

Being mindful is all about being present in the moment. One easy exercise, is to try and notice all of the sights and sounds that you can see and hear around you while travelling. In noticing these small things, it allows the mind and body to be more present in the moment and place an anchor on our every day rushing thoughts.

2) HAVE A RELAXING EVENING BATH:

Baths are absolutely great, and for anyone who detests them, because they say you’re sitting in your own filth and grime, well I say to you my friend; You have not lived until you have done that! All you need to do is, chuck in a Lush Bath bomb or two and crank up that hot water tap – I promise you, you’ll be in relaxation heaven.

3) INDULGE IN YOUR FAVOURITE HOBBY:

Hobbies are perhaps my favourite thing about relaxing. When I’ve had a rough day, am on the verge of burnout for overworking myself silly, I know that a snuggle under the duvet with my favourite book will make me as right as rain in no time. Engaging in your hobbies allows the mind to switch off and do something that it simply enjoys – no strings attached. What is your favourite hobby?

4) HAVE A CHAT WITH FRIENDS:

I am an introvert at heart and I’m not always the biggest people person. However, there is something ever so calm and comforting about meeting your friends for a drink and just having a chat. It could be as obscure as discussing the colour of the paint on the walls or as deep as the current political climate. Sometimes we need our space, but sometimes – we also need the space of others too.

5) TAKE THE TIME TO JUST BE…

Switch off completely, have a lie in and hide under the duvets for the entire day or spend a good half hour with your thoughts…reflecting. Whatever it may be, taking the time to just be yourself, be in the moment and be comfortable with whatever you are doing or may not be doing is such a great way to switch off. Forget about the fact that you’re now 23 and a raging commitment phobe. Relaxation is about you, it’s your time. So revel in it, enjoy it and just be.
